Since a forensic pathologist is involved in determining the cause of death, it is applied in investigations by being divided into three different parts. The first part is the initial investigation, which is the scene investigation and where the body was found. The second part includes the examination of the body, including organs, tissues and fluids, both internal and external. The third and final step of a forensic pathologist is the follow up investigation. This includes being involved in any court appearances and being able to testify when needed. All of these tasks can be beneficial to any investigation because can it not only put a family at ease about their loss of a loved one. Also if the death is ruled a homicide it could lead to investigators being able to understand the cause of death more and become closer to find the killer (Choo 20).
